As a successful Managing Director, you know better than anyone just how lonely the top job can be. That sense of isolation is compounded when the business you are running is your own. No one else shares the same sense of responsibility for what needs to be done. No one else has the same vested interest in the success of your business that you have. To some extent your self confidence rises and falls with the ups and downs of the business cycle. But there is no one to whom you can really turn with any degree of confidence to share the burden.
